彼女とは１０年以上の付き合いだ。多忙な仕事をしているのに、事あるごとに
メールではなく手紙をくれる。そして、うちは毎回感涙してしまう。
大切な大切な友人のひとりだ。全く畑違いの職種で絶対会う事は
なかったであろう うちらを結びつけたのは
「英会話学校」
この学校、初日に先生が生徒に英語名を与える。
彼女は「Judy」うちは「sissy」
はじめの内は呼ばれると堪えきれずに笑っていたのだが、慣れとは恐ろしい。
数ヶ月も経つと日常でもクラスメート全員、互いを普通に英語名で呼ぶ様に。
いまや 本名を言われても一瞬「？？？誰？？？」ってなカンジだ。
彼女はもちろん、手紙の差出人名を「Judy」と書いて送ってきてくれる。
因みに結婚式の時、うちらの名前をこのニックネームにしてくれてた。
受付でギョッとしたのはうちらだけでなく、出席者全員。
「何のお仕事されてはるんですか？」
と、めちゃくちゃ聞かれた。キャバ嬢か何かと思われたらしい。
それからこの名前は「ニックネーム」ではなく「源氏名」と
呼ばれるようになった。
懐かしい気分になりながら手紙を読ませてもらいました。
My friend send a letter from Japan to London.We are having good relationship 10 years more.
When the time is important, she always write a letters to me
not use an e-mail. And then, I always cry after read the letter.
She is one of dearest friend in my life.
We know each other at English conversation school.
The school gives English nickname to students on the first day.
Her nickname is “Judy” and my nickname is “sissy”
It was funny things because all students are Japanese whose looks
absolutory is Asian, however teachers calls us during the class
by nickname. We strong remember each others English nickname
more than real name.
So, we started use English nickname out of the class.
Even if someone said real name, we don’t understand now.
At the time of wedding party in Japan, the receptionist find
our name card and gives a table number to us after we wrote a name
on the guest book at reception desk.
Judy used our nickname when she had a wedding party. We were surprise
very much of course!!! The attendees seems to have been surprised too,
and they asked us “what are you doing?” while wedding party.
Because hostess clubs are a common feature in the night-time
entertainment industry of Japan. They are establishments that employ
primarily female staff and cater to males seeking drink and attentive
conversation. The female staff use beautiful nickname on the work.
They thought that we work at hostess club.
Judy's letter makes me feel nostalgic.
